How to Organize Sheep Vaccination Records

A practical system for recording sheep vaccinations, due dates, products, batches and follow-up without relying on scattered paper notes.

Why a vaccination record matters

A vaccination record helps the farm know what was planned, what was completed and what still needs attention. It should support the veterinarian’s approved program rather than replace veterinary advice. Clear records also help identify missed animals and investigate unexpected health events.

What to record

Record the animal or group, vaccine name, date, dose, route when relevant, product batch, expiry date, person who administered it and the next due date. Attach a note when an animal was excluded or a dose was postponed.

A reliable daily workflow

Prepare the due list before handling animals. Confirm identity with the tag, QR code or RFID reader. Record the event at the time of administration and reconcile the completed count against the planned count before the animals leave the handling area.

Review and follow-up

Review overdue work weekly, keep veterinary instructions with the program and monitor animals according to the product label and veterinarian’s direction. Digital reminders are useful only when the underlying record is complete and accurate.

This guide is for general organization and education. Health and medicine programs should be approved by a licensed veterinarian for the farm and product instructions.
